Tiimo
a day you can see
Manifesto: a day you can see
Some mornings arrive all at once, every to-do talking over the others. So set them down. Give each one a colour, a place, a little time. Then start with the one in front of you. A day you can see is a day you can start.
01 · The brief
A planner for brains that work differently.
Tiimo is a visual planner from Copenhagen, founded in 2015 by Helene Lassen Nørlem and Melissa Würtz Azari. It began as a research project interviewing neurodivergent teenagers about how technology could support them at school. Today it turns to-dos into colour-coded timeline blocks, with an AI co-planner, a visual focus timer and mood check-ins. Its own line: “Designed for brains that work differently.”

Design problems we chose
- 01
Make time visible, without panic
For people with time blindness, the passing of time has to be seen. But a ticking countdown can feel like an alarm. The shape of time must calm, not chase.
- 02
AI that doesn’t overwhelm
A co-planner that turns one task into twelve has made things worse. Its output needs pacing, sensible defaults and an undo that’s always in reach.
- 03
Sensory settings as a system
Theme colours, fonts and motion are personal. Whatever someone picks, contrast, layout and reduced motion must still hold.
Our goal
A day you can see is a day you can start. Make the plan visible in one glance, and gentle enough to come back to tomorrow.
02 · Research
Three people. Three ways a day falls apart.
We built personas from Tiimo’s public audience: ADHD, autistic and dyslexic adults, plus anyone overwhelmed by planning. Then we checked every screen against all three.
Personas are NUUKE research assumptions built from the brand’s public audience, not real customers.
03 · Journey map
Jess’s Tuesday, and where the app can help.
Tap each moment to see what Jess is doing, how she feels, and the design opportunity we found. The low points shaped the whole product.
Stage 1 · Wake
Doing
Wakes with a dozen to-dos already in her head.
Feeling
😕 Overwhelmed before she has started.
Opportunity
One brain-dump box on the lock screen: get it out of her head first, sort it later.
Stage 2 · Plan
Doing
Tries to order the list; everything feels urgent.
Feeling
😣 Stuck, and starting to avoid it.
Opportunity
The co-planner proposes an order and soft time estimates, all editable, with undo.
Stage 3 · Start
Doing
Opens the deck file, closes it, opens email.
Feeling
😕 Can’t get going.
Opportunity
Show only the first tiny step and a focus disc. Starting should take one tap.
Stage 4 · Focus
Doing
Gets into flow and loses track of time.
Feeling
🙂 Good, until lunch is late.
Opportunity
A haptic tick every 5 minutes and a Live Activity disc on the lock screen.
Stage 5 · Running late
Doing
Lunch overruns by 40 minutes.
Feeling
😕 Ashamed; tempted to give up on the plan.
Opportunity
The timeline shifts gently. No red, no “overdue”, just “here’s your afternoon now”.
Stage 6 · Evening
Doing
Looks back at the day.
Feeling
😄 Calm; it was a day she could see.
Opportunity
An optional mood check-in that celebrates what got done, never a broken streak.
04 · User flow
Ten screens. Dump, plan, do, reflect.
Onboarding happens once. The daily loop is brain dump → co-planner → timeline → focus → check-in. Tap any screen to open it in the live prototype below.
Tap any screen to open it in the prototype ↓
05 · Wireframes
Watch the screens draw themselves.
Every screen starts as pencil, becomes grey boxes, then gets colour and content. Scroll to replay that process on three key screens; the design notes pin on as they were made.

- Notes
- 1One directionThe day reads top to bottom, one column. No grid of hours to decode.
- 2Emoji firstYou recognise a task by its picture before you read it, which helps dyslexic readers.
- 3A moving “now”The now line glides down. Nothing flashes or turns red when you run late.
- 4Dump from anywhereThe + opens brain dump on every screen, so a thought never has to wait.
- 1No form to fillBrain dump is a single box. Type, paste or speak; structure comes later.
- 2AI suggests, you decideThe co-planner proposes steps. Each one is editable, and nothing is added until you say so.
- 3Estimates, not deadlinesTimes are soft chips. Tap one to change it; nothing turns into a countdown yet.
- 4Undo, alwaysIf the breakdown feels like too much, one tap puts the original task back.
- 1Time you can seeThe disc drains as time passes. For time blindness, the shape matters more than the numbers.
- 2Tiny next stepOnly the current sub-step is bold. The rest wait quietly below.
- 3Extend without guilt“+5 min” is the same size as “Done”. Running over is normal, not a failure.
- 4Off the phone tooThe same disc becomes a Live Activity, so the timer keeps going on the lock screen.
Scroll to draw. Tap a screen above to redraw it.

- L1
Layout & safe areas
One 64pt time gutter, one content column, 12pt rhythm. Safe areas for the island, the + button and the tab bar.
- L2
Wireframe
Grey boxes first: date strip, then blocks whose height follows their duration, then a single + button.
- L3
Content
Real tasks, real times. Labels stay under 20 characters so they never wrap to a second line.
- L4
Colour & type
Each task keeps its own pastel. Ink text on every pastel stays above 7:1, whatever intensity you pick.
- L5
Now line & motion
The now line glides 1pt a minute. The current block gets a soft glow and a draining disc. Reduce Motion turns both into still states.
07 · Prototype
Tap through a whole day.
This is the prototype we’d put in front of testers. Follow the journey on the left, and flip between Sketch, Wireframe and Hi-fi to see how each screen evolved. Try the font switch on the second screen.

08 · Sensory lab
Every setting, felt on a live phone.
Sensory needs differ, so the UI is a system, not a skin. Change colour intensity, motion, font, timer style and cues, and watch the same screen adapt while contrast stays readable.

09 · Road to launch
From TestFlight to the App Store, and beyond.
A mobile app isn’t done when the design is. We plan the store page, a staged roadmap and the voice of every release note. Scrub the roadmap and the store page follows.

11 · Measure
How we’d know it’s working.
Time to first plan
We expect: New users place a first day on the timeline within 3 minutes of install.
How we’d measure: Onboarding funnel timing, install → first timeline with 3+ blocks.
Co-planner trust
We expect: Most suggested steps are kept or lightly edited; undo is used without people leaving.
How we’d measure: Accept / edit / undo rate per suggestion, and next-day return after an undo.
Timers finished
We expect: Gentler late states and +5 min reduce abandoned focus sessions.
How we’d measure: Focus completion rate before and after v1.1, A/B on late-state copy.
Settings that stick
We expect: People who tune a sensory setting in week 1 keep planning in week 4.
How we’d measure: Week-4 retention by settings cohort; survey on comfort.
These are the success measures we would agree with the client before launch. As a concept project, no results are claimed.
